Off Screen mom as stressed as her on screen Avatar
Being a celebrity was never easy but being a celebrity mom can be even more stressful, especially after a stint of full- time- stay- at- home- mom. Calista Flockhart, the former Ally McBeal star, discovered that after she returned to work in ‘Brothers & Sisters‘ in 2006. She stayed away from spotlights to raise her adopted son Liam from infancy. The decision to quit the role of full time mom to return to acting proved to be quite shattering for her. She tried to juggle her acting career and home but was distressed when she realized that it’s dragging her away from her son Liam.
It’s undoubtedly a daunting challenge to keep up with celebrity lifestyle and spend enough time with your family. Recently in an interview Flockhart said, “All of a sudden, I wasn’t home to pick Liam up from school, and I realized it wasn’t really OK, and I wasn’t happy, and I was scratching my eyes out. I couldn’t believe I’d put myself in this situation.”
But she is extremely grateful that she has someone to depend on in the face of all the stress. She was all praise for her boy friend Harrison Ford, star of Indian Jones franchise, as he stepped in her place as a full time parent for Liam. She agreed that it was for her and Liam’s sake that Ford decided to become stay-at- home- dad, and added that it was extremely comforting to know that he would be there for Liam.
Flockhart plays Kitty, the younger daughter, in ‘Brothers & Sisters‘ and has to put up with as many family pressures on screen as she does off screen. She works as a communication director on the show and we recently saw her in the episode “Book Burning” in which the tell-all memoir she wrote caused a furor in the family threatening the dynamics of the family.
